Check out the venue for next month's opening leg of the Curling World Cup
This is the brand new Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre within Suzhou Industrial Park, venue for next month’s opening leg of the inaugural Curling World Cup that begins on 12 September.
The sports centre, which opened earlier this year, includes a 45,000-capacity stadium, aquatics venue and a multi-use arena – which will be used to host September’s eagerly-awaited competition.
Suzhou is home to more than 10 million people, is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, boasts beautiful gardens and canals, and has been dubbed by many as the ‘Venice of China’.
Situated 100km northwest of Shanghai, Suzhou is a major city located in southeastern Jiangsu Province of East China.
Its group of gardens, aptly named ‘Classical Gardens of Suzhou’, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997 and have an area span of almost 30 acres.
The city has hosted international table tennis, taekwondo and fencing competitions but September’s competition will be the first time a curling event has been hosted in the city.
